Coal Creek Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center

How much radiation will I receive at your office?

Patient safety is one of our highest concerns. To that end, we've invested in the latest state-of-the-art digital imaging to keep your radiation exposure to an absolute minimum.

The amount of radiation used in your case will vary depending on what type of imaging you need, but we will take every possible precaution to keep your exposure low. In most cases, you are likely to receive more radiation out hiking on a beautiful sunny day!

Even conventional film x-rays used in dentistry already kept radiation exposure low compared to other x-ray imaging options. Digital x-rays allow us to reduce that exposure level even further – by 80% or more!

While imaging systems like the cone beam scanner do use more radiation, you will be protected with additional shielding whenever necessary, and we will only take as many images as we need to properly diagnose any conditions and plan your treatment.

Dental imaging technology is a crucial part of the planning process. The information your images provide us about the placement of your teeth, your bone, and other supporting structures and facial anatomy is invaluable and can't be obtained any other way. Thanks to these images, we are able to perform surgeries and place implants with a high rate of success while keeping our patients healthy and safe.
